We're in the midst of National Entrepreneurship Week, a time to recognize the efforts of entrepreneurs and expose students in high school and college, as well as business and civic leaders, to the importance of entrepreneurship.
Southeast Missouri State University is participating in this year's celebration. Today, there will be an Extreme Entrepreneurship event held from 2 to 4 p.m. in Glenn Auditorium. Festivities include presentations, exhibits, workshops and Q-and-A sessions.
On Friday, there will be a keynote address by Clifton Taulbert at 11 a.m. in the University Center Ballroom. A webinar also will be at 1:30 p.m. for those who can't make the presentation. Taulbert is a Pulitzer nominee, author of 13 books and president and founder of the Building Community Institute.
We hope you take advantage of this opportunity to learn from some talented individuals with expertise and practical experience. The Douglas C. Greene Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship is a tremendous asset to this area in fostering a strong entrepreneurial mindset. The efforts by the center's staff and others at Southeast have led to more attention on entrepreneurial practices and provided opportunities for students and the community to hear success stories.
While Cape Girardeau, Jackson and the surrounding areas are great places to live, it's important that we continue to look for more opportunities to help improve business. Programs like these help.
