To the editor:
Now that soccer season is here and children are playing in our new park, I too would like to thank all the people involved in making this a reality. While much has been said about how this was a joint effort between the JDIC, city of Jackson and the local community, which is true, the reality is we would not have a new park if it were not for the extraordinary time and effort a few people made on this project.
There is no way to count the number of hours Brent Wills spent at the site overcoming numerous obstacles few will ever know about. While Ron Clark and Chris Bowen were the paid contractor on the project, they both donated countless hours of labor so we could stay within our budget. If it were not for Sam Duncan and his skill at writing grants, we never would have had the money to finance the project to begin with. I would like to thank Mark Baker and Enis Heinkebien who have helped from the beginning to the end of the project. And finally Cris Collier for putting all the final touches on the fields to make it look like a soccer park.
Next time you see these folks, say thanks for a job well done. It would not have happened without them.
JACK LITZELFELNER Jr., President, Jackson Soccer Park Association
