I'm one of those 1.4 million people who lost unemployment benefits Dec. 28. I'm not crying and whining. I'm just letting you know that you are not safe from economic disaster either. It's me this time, but next time it may be you. I didn't do anything wrong to become unemployed. I've made my own way all my life. I got an education, worked hard and did my job well...

I got an education, worked hard and did my job well.

I don't want your pity, I want your attention. There are statistics out there about the number of unemployed, underemployed and the hopeless. Just let me set you straight. They are all helpless. There's not a thing we can do about our problem as long as you judge as unworthy of living.

There's no jobs, people! All of the doors are locked and bolted at jobs that reflect our education, experience and abilities. I want a decent job that will allow me to live, have a home, food and transportation. You know, all that stuff you have right now but are in danger of losing if you continue to side with the rich and greedy.

The millionaires in Congress don't have an inkling of what I'm talking about. But you do. You just won't speak up, stand up and demand for the unemployed what you value and expect for yourselves. I tell you in truth, I am worthy of the dignity, respect and financial support that I claim right here, right now. Deny me at the risk of your own.
