I found Rudi Keller's article on the latest Cairo City Council meeting quite sad. The mayor and council members should forgo their salaries and benefits until the city's finances are in much better shape. Most small towns in our area do not pay their mayor and council members a salary, let alone health benefits. It is obvious that Cairo cannot continue down this disastrous path. Common sense needs to be applied by all concerned citizens and officials. I am a former Cairoite and am still interested in what happens to a once wonderful town.
