To the editor:
What are the Democrats going to do now that the Republicans have claimed the power of the state from them? Although both parties support state central planning, there is a slight difference in their techniques. Russian history presents us a clear picture of the differences.
The Democrats, like the Stalinists, attack the property owners and entrepreneurs, thus increasing the power of central planning (in Russia, the attack was on the kulaks and intellectuals). The Republicans, like Trotsky, believe in forcing their central planning ideologies through the use of war. Trotsky's intent was to wage war on Poland and Germany, but the neo-cons, who have taken over the Republican Party, want to spread their ideology on any nation too helpless to defend itself.
Both parties know that war is the health of the state. If there is a problem, real or imagined, have a war on it.
The Democrats were often eager to start a war to increase the power of the state when they were in control, but now the Republican wing of the state central planning party has the upper hand, and the Democrats seem to be unable to locate a pick to rid themselves of the pesky Trotskyites.
One thing about it: The Arabs are finding fewer reasons to hate the United States because of our freedom and values.
