To the editor:
In a recent Speak Out comment, someone referred to Jesus Christ as a "community organizer." As believers in our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, we feel that it is an insult to Christians and blasphemy to speak of Jesus Christ as simply a "community organizer."
Jesus Christ came into this sin-ruined, sin-spoiled, sin-separating and sin-perishing world for one primary purpose: to live for us sinful human being the perfect life we can never live. He came to offer his sinless life into death on the cross of Calvary as the perfect, full and final payment for the sins of every sinner. He came to rise again from the dead by his own power as the God-Man to assure all who believe in him that their sins have been paid for in full, that by God's grace through faith in him they now have forgiveness of sins and that eternal life in heaven awaits them when they die.
We Christians joyfully and publicly confess that Jesus Christ is much more than a "community organizer." Jesus is our personal savior from sin. His name is above every other name because salvation from sin, death, hell and Satan is received only by the Holy Spirit's gift of faith in Jesus Christ.
Jesus is our Savior. In Jesus we have a living and eternal hope. Without Jesus, we have nothing but the eternal agony and despair of hell awaiting us.
Thanks be to God for sending his only begotten to be our Savior and the only Savior of all sinners.
