Birthright

We often think of Birthright as the organization that helps women in crisis pregnancies. Whether it's a pregnancy test, counseling for unexpected pregnancies, maternity clothing or supplies for babies and young children, Birthright is there to help. But the organization does much more.

The recent flooding led one woman to the Cape Girardeau Birthright office. In addition to receiving a listening ear, the mother of four received much needed baby supplies to help her through this difficult situation.

And if a woman facing a crisis pregnancy comes to the office, volunteers are ready and willing to talk with her about what options she has, including support after the pregnancy.

Those wanting to keep their baby are connected with agencies that can also help, and for those seeking the adoption option, Birthright connects the woman with LFCS and Love Basket adoption services, in Farmington, Mo.

Direct support with material items is a major component to the Birthright mission, but counseling -- including a discussion of education plans -- is also important for some would-be mothers.
