I have sat for a number of days with an angel close by. I glance at the picture with her radiant smile, the smile that melts my heart. I must relate something that has been on my mind constantly. The angel of whom I speak of is Kim McDowell.

Through the Southeast Missourian newspaper, I had a friendly acquaintance with Kim. For a number of years, I was the director of the Cape River Heritage Museum. She was most helpful concerning certain transactions regarding the museum. When I heard of Kim's many community contributions, I realized one was missing.

Kim volunteered in our garden at the museum for many years. The neglected area north of the museum and pond were in dire shape. Along with her sister, a grand refurbishment was created. As long as I was connected with the museum, a constant area of beauty, a cozy nook, a place for meditation and peace was maintained like the angel that allowed it to happen.

It is never too late to recognize an angel.
