  • Justin Cox of Scott City earned a juris doctor degree at Yale Law School. He has a fellowship to work at Casa of Maryland, a civil rights organization in Silver Spring, Md.
  • Brooke Phillips of Perkins, Mo. received a doctor of pharmacy degree from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis, Tenn. She will complete a pharmacy residency at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Memphis.

  • Kari Bragg of Cape Girardeau made the president's list at Freed-Hardeman University in Henderson, Tenn., for the spring 2008 semester.
  • Rachel Filbeck of Cape Girardeau made the dean's list at Harding University in Searcy, Ark., for the spring 2008 semester.
  • Southeast Missouri State University communication students won multiple Missouri Broadcast Education Association awards June 7. First-place winners were: Regina LaRose, convergent journalism; Cody Snider, audio interview; Matt Hickey, corporate/promotional video; Brandon Reese, sports video; Jeremy Abrams, audio air check. Benjamin Theiss, Joanna Wende, Ryan Wedemeier, Casey M. Hinkebein, Michael Olds and Ernie Kon received an honorable mention. Southeast Public Radio won in the "special programming category for its "Almost Yesterday" series.
  • Patty Eck, academic affairs support specialist in the Office of the Provost at Southeast Missouri State University, received the President's Recognition Award from the Missouri Division of the International Association of Administrative Professionals.

  • Zachary Wachter of Chaffee, Mo., received a Governor's Scholarship to attend Southeast Missouri State University this fall. Olivia Meyer of Cape Girardeau received a MAP Scholarship.
