  • Amy O'Rear of Jackson received the RN-BSN Student Award for Overall Excellence from the University of Missouri-Columbia Sinclair School of Nursing.
  • Brian McCrate of Cape Girardeau was initiated into the Phi Kappa Phi academic honor society at the University of Mississippi in Oxford. McCrate is a junior majoring in pharmacy.
  • Andrew Blair, Philip Graf and Justin Ruessler of Perryville, Mo., will travel to Solola, Guatemala, with Engineers Without Borders this month. The Missouri University of Science and Technology students will work on building an earthquake-resistant classroom.
  • The Phi Beta Lambda business organization at Three Rivers Community College in Poplar Bluff, Mo., participated in a leadership conference. Deborah Cochran placed fifth in information management and fourth in word processing; Lesli Holifield placed third in information management; and Elizabeth Barnett and Holi- field placed third in the business ethics team event.

SCHOOL NEWS

  • Three Rivers Community College will hold commencement at 7 p.m. May 22 in the Bess Activity Center. Missouri House Speaker Rod Jetton, R-Marble Hill, will be the featured speaker.
