ACHIEVEMENTS

  • Timothy Huey, Michael Painton, Rita Jo Dirnberger, Lindsey Grissom, Alana Newell, Shelly Wood and Amon Seabaugh have been selected by Southeast Missouri State University faculty to attend a seminar at the Center for Strategic and International Studies March 9 to 14 in Washington, D.C. Students will study business, the environment and politics.
  • Hannah Williams, Kendrick Blake, Richard Valentine, Hannah Schaal, Indocin Murray, Ryan Moore, Samantha Severs, Kayla Spraggs (first runner-up), Brittany Johnson and Kierra Hollis were grade level winners for kindergarten through 8th grade, respectively, at a spelling bee at Meridian Elementary School in Mounds, Ill.
  • McKenzie Scott, a fifth-grader at South Elementary in Jackson, received first place at the eighth annual Children's Art Festival reception Dec. 9.

  • Ashlea N. Soemo of Jackson has been awarded a President's Plus Scholarship, a Missouri Leadership Award and a MAP Achievement Scholarship to attend Southeast Missouri State University next school year.
  • Derek Gaines of Oran has been awarded a President's Plus Scholarship to attend Southeast Missouri State University next school year.
  • Nikole Tuschhoff of Cape Girardeau and Ryan Miller of Scott City have been awarded a President's Scholarship and a Missouri Assessment Program Scholarship to attend Southeast Missouri State University next school year.
  • Amy O'Rear of Jackson has been awarded the Annette McClanahan Harrison Endowed Nursing Scholarship and the Helen Hapke Endowment Scholarship from the University of Missouri.
