Kindergarten screenings

Children must be 5 years old by Aug. 1, 2009 to attend school in the fall.

• A kindergarten meeting for children and parents will be held at the Kelly Elementary Gym. A bus ride, school tour, kindergarten expectations and school supply list will be included in the meeting. The meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. Monday, March 3. Parents attending this meeting have the first opportunity to schedule a screening appointment for the kindergarten screening between 8:15 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, March 16. Parents unable to attend the March 3 meeting should call the Elementary Office at 545-3541 after the date to schedule an appointment. Children need to be present at the meeting and screening.
• A screening to determine eligibility for the Scott County R-IV Kelly School District 4 year old preschool program will be held from 8:15 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday, March 17. Children must be 4 years old before Aug. 1, 2009. Bring child's immunization record, birth certificate, social security number and proof of residency when enrolling. Allow an hour to 1 1/2 hours for the screening. Call 545-3541 to schedule an appointment.
• Appointments for Nell Holcomb R-IV kindergarten screening and enrollment, held for 3 and 4 year olds Monday, March 23, are necessary and can be made after Feb. 16 by calling 334-3644. Bring child's immunization record, official birth certificate, social security card when enrolling. All immunizations must be up to date before children are permitted to attend classes. A record of immunizations received after the enrollment date must be presented the first day of school.
• Parents must call the Oran Elementary Office at 574-262-3435 to schedule a screening appointment for the 2009 to 2010 school year for Oran kindergarteners. The screening is from 8:30 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. Wednesday, March 4 to Thursday, March 5. The child's shot record book, a copy of the certified birth certificate and social security card are needed at the enrollment.
