Thursday

  • Seeds of Hope: 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Saint Francis Medical Center Assisi Room. This is a free six-week educational program that facilitates the grief process. It provides individuals with tools to understand grief and promotes healing. Call 331-3000 and request pager 549 or extension 6906 for chaplain Greg Heinsman.
  • Asthma education: 6:30 to 9 p.m. in the Generations Center. A free asthma education program for children, adults and their families. Register by calling 651-5825.
  • Nutrition education: 2 to 3:30 p.m. at the Cape Area Family Resource Center. Screenings for height, weight and body mass index and a presentation on healthy nutrition will be offered. No registration is required. For more information, call 651-3747, extension 104.

  • Childbirth preparation class: 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the Harrison Room at Southeast Missouri Hospital. A class for expectant parents to ease their concerns and give them a positive, confident attitude toward labor and delivery. Call 651-5825 to register.

  • Infant care class: 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Saint Francis Medical Center Registration Center. A caregiver's manual for parents, grandparents and other care providers, Saint Francis' infant care class covers topics such as feeding, daily care, infant sleeping patterns and valuable health and safety information.   • Living with fibromyalgia: 6:30 p.m. in the Harrison Room at Southeast Missouri Hospital. Program will discuss the symptoms of fibromyalgia and treatments for the disorder. Fibromyalgia is a condition characterized by widespread pain and stiffness in various muscles, tendons and ligaments. Common symptoms include fatigue, sleep problems, headaches and depression. April 15

  • Chest Pain in Women: 6:30 p.m. in the Harrison Room at Southeast Missouri Hospital. The program will address the often subtle symptoms of heart attack in women.
