Ryan Ewing of Cape Girardeau was elected 2009 man of the year by the pastor, officers and members of St. James African Methodist Episcopal Church. Ewing is the Sunday school superintendent and sings in the chancel choir. He received the award at the 155th session of the Missouri Annual Conference of the African Methodist Episcopal Church. At the conference, Louise Duncan, who also attends St. James, was made a deaconess.
