The northern cardinal is a year-round native resident songbird of our part of the world. It is one of the most loved of all birds on Earth.
A bright red happy spot on a winter limb is always a welcome sight.
The northern cardinal will come to a bird feeder filled with corn, sunflower seeds or pieces of nuts.
I took this photo on Dec. 6, 2013. It represents the Christmas season well. Even Santa Claus wears the colors of the cardinal.
Merry Christmas, everyone!
