Catching an Accent.......
There are times when directing a play that accents may become a must to get a particular character across to the audience. In RCP'S upcoming show this is the case. It becomes so much fun and exciting watching the actor turn into another person. The accent that one particular actor is working on slowly creeps into other characters. It just happens. We will be reading lines and out of nowhere other actors all of a sudden have a New York accent. It just happens. Hence, people do rub off on other people. Accents are hard work and the character has to learn to not think about am I keeping my accent while remembering line after line. You will have a chance to come and see what I am talking about in September when our next production, 'Getting Sara Married', opens on September 11, 2009.
