Jackson High School band members competed April 8 at the Heritage Music Festival in Chicago, Ill. They competed against other high schools from various states. Each group performed two to three pieces for three judges. After the performance, a judge gave a short clinic to the ensemble consisting of comments, critiques, and suggestions for improvement. The jazz ensemble received a Silver rating. Taylor Dickerson and Kaleb Huggins each received the "Maestro Award" which is given to students showing outstanding performing skills.
