Cape Girardeau County 4-Her's Compete in State Public Speaking Contest

Four Cape Girardeau County 4-Her's participated in the State 4-H Public Speaking Contest on October 4, 2014 at the University of Missouri campus in Columbia. Those participating include Anthony Kobak, Joshua Koenig, Samuel Koenig, and Renee Peters, all are members of the Tilsit 4-H Club.

Renee Peters advanced to the semi-finals and placed in the top six of the Senior Prepared Speech. Her speech was titled "Why Cape County Commissioners Should Not Cut 4-H's Budget." Joshua Koenig also advanced to the semi-finals and placed in the top six of the Senior Extemporaneous Speech.

Missouri 4-H is a community of over 300,000 youth ages 5-18 from rural farming communities, suburban schoolyards, and urban neighborhoods. 4-H youth are learning leadership, citizenship, and life skills, guided by over 10,000 caring adult volunteers statewide. University of Missouri Extension 4-H is the youth development program of the nation's Cooperative Extension system.
