Few stories are as uplifting as those that measure the achievements of our family, friends and neighbors. And when an extraordinary milestone is attained by the youngsters in our midst, the glow is even brighter and warmer. Such is the case of Bonan Wang of Cape Girardeau who, at age 16, was recently judged the best pianist in her age group in all of Missouri.
Bonan is a busy student at Central High School where she makes the best grades and involves herself in all sorts of activities. Her comprehension of world affairs has been heightened by being a native of China. She is looking forward to college. And she has come to love the time she spends at the piano.
Through her many achievements, Bonan is an inspiration to all of us. Credit also is due to those who have inspired this talented young woman: her parents; her high school music teacher, Dina Strickert; and here piano teacher, Dr. James Sifferman at Southeast Missouri State University.
