The list of supporters who have contributed to the work on the athletic fields at Central High School is a long one indeed. Yet one person has helped out so much that I wish to publicly thank him for his generosity. Larry Welker of Welker Fence Co. on numerous occasions donated materials we needed or charged so little for them that it made it possible for us to put a chain-link fence around the batting cage, build two dugouts for the junior varsity field and move the right-field fence in some 14 feet so that a road could be constructed to the shed where equipment is stored. Metal fencing is certainly not free, and without Larry's help the work could never have been completed. A tip of the hat goes to Larry, and I know the kids who play on the fields appreciate it.
