On Sunday, the 26th, I read that Alma Schrader Elementary School was one of the 750 customers without power from the failed equipment that caused last Friday's outage. The article said that the age of the equipment could have been part of the failure.

This isn't the first time I've heard about aging electrical equipment being to blame for power outages. And last year, as I understand it, there was some attempt from the utilities to work with folks in Jefferson City on legislation to fix Missouri's outdated energy grid.

It seems to me that if power outages around the state can be attributed to aging equipment and they're now starting to affect homes, businesses and even schools, Something needs to be done before it gets worse. I encourage our state legislators to come to the table with our utilities to try and find a solution soon.
