The American public took another slap in the face from Congress as senators once again jacked up their own salaries. ... After years of embarrassing increases, congressional salaries are already too high relative to average American incomes. The latest hike will put the annual congressional salary next year at $158,100.

... It's little consolation that lawmakers are receiving smaller percentage increases than most federal workers. The 4.1 percent increases given to everyone else were also irresponsible. But in any case, members of Congress are making plenty of money already.
