The Jackson-based theater group Acting Out! is set to present its latest musical this weekend, "Little Women."
The Broadway musical was first performed in 2005, more than a century after the book by Louisa May Alcott was published. "Little Women" tells a story of four sisters and their mother from Massachusetts as their father served in the Civil War.
Actor and artistic director Kasey Cox told the Southeast Missourian that all cast members are past or present music majors.
The production's director, Elisabeth Wurm, has worked with Cox in the past and is involved with a theatrical production company in St. Louis. "Everyone is well-prepared. It makes for a perfect ensemble," Wurm said in the Aug. 1 story that appeared in this newspaper.
The show will be performed at 7:30 p.m. today and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday at the Cape Girardeau Central Junior High School auditorium at 205 Caruthers Ave. Doors open one hour before each show.
Tickets may be purchased for $15 for adults and $8 for children age 2 to 13 online at actingoutlittlewomen.brownpapertickets.com up to one hour before each performance. Tickets purchased at the door are $20 and $13.
This should be a nice show with a talented cast. We hope you will consider attending one or more of the performances.
