The generosity of people in Southeast Missouri who give so much of themselves to others is truly amazing.
Important fundraising efforts by many worthwhile groups and organizations means help and comfort for those in need. As most of us scurry through the hectic pre-Christmas weeks to buy gifts and make holiday preparations, there are those among us who have little cause for cheer, mostly through no fault of their own. These are the individuals whose lives are brightened by the giving spirit of others.
Toys for children, necessities for the elderly, meals for shut-ins, a shared laugh for the lonely, comfort for those who face the perils of unemployment, cheer for the sick -- all of these people can find the spirit of giving from the community in which they live.
Much of the giving at this time of the year goes to organizations that provide services to the needy year-around. These efforts require infusions of help all year long, not just during these special holidays.
For all our friends and neighbors who find it in their hearts to give to others, we are truly thankful. And blessed.
Remember the poor, the hungry, the sick, the lonely, those facing emergencies. And thank you for your wonderful generosity.
