Senate President Pro Tem Peter Kinder filed a bill to change Southwest Missouri's name to Missouri State University. He's also filed a bill that would issue $190 million in bonds for the four University of Missouri campuses, including Jacob's hometown of Columbia. ...

For those so inclined to do what's right, it's too early to swap their votes for the University of Missouri proposal in exchange for Jacob acceding to the name change. There's no question Missouri State University is good for the state. The legislature's goal should be to couple that name change to the bond proposal that does the most to boost Missouri's economy.
