To the editor:
Fourth-grade students at Clippard Elementary School recently enjoyed two terrific field trips. In Jefferson City we visited our Capitol, the Supreme Court building, the Governor's Mansion, and the archives building. We met with state Sen. Jason Crowell and state Rep. Mary Kasten. Students enjoyed a fabulous chartered bus ride to Jefferson City.
In St. Louis, we all went to the top of the arch and toured the museum under the arch and watched the Lewis and Clark video. We also visited the Old Courthouse where we re-enacted the Dred Scott trial. Finally, we enjoyed lunch and a boat ride on the Tom Sawyer riverboat.
These trips would not have been possible without our sponsors. We want to thank My Daddy's Cheesecake, Terry Enterprises, Powers Electric, Ted Osburn, Cape Girardeau Noon Optimist Club, McAlister's Deli, Alliance Bank, Imo's Pizza, Buckner's, The Medicine Shoppe, Clippard PTO, Kiefner Bros. Inc., Kyle and Amy McDonald, Regional Primary Care, Wattermellon Works, Schaefer's Electrical Enclosures-Jimmy and Chrisy Wilferth, VFW, Brain & Neurospine Clinic of Missouri-Kevin Vaught, Knights of Columbus-Father Marquette Council and Pet Care Plus.
Thank you so much for your help to pay for our trips, our buses and our T-shirts. We appreciate our community and its efforts to support our schools.
TERI JONES, Cape Girardeau
