To the editor: The Riley family would like to thank everyone who was so thoughtful during our time of sorrow in the loss of our son-in-law, Gregory Jobe. We especially want to thank Steve Niswonger and Vicky Moldenhauer of the water rescue team from the Cape Girardeau Fire Department. Steve kept my daughter informed about the search team, was considerate of her feelings and never gave her false hope. Thanks also to all the other water patrol departments...

The police department and Southeast Missourian were thoughtful and respectful of our wishes for privacy. This was greatly appreciated.

Paula Smith was kind enough to bring refreshments to everyone. Danielle Blake was wonderful with consoling our granddaughter, Casey, who had a close relationship with her father. He taught her how to fish, and she caught her first fish at the tender age of 3.

Our dear friend Gladys Retherford was the first person to be called. Her prayer line is always open. Her prayers were a comfort to our family.

We also were fortunate to have two pastors, Sonny Floyd and Bill Kitchen, praying with everyone and giving spiritual guidance. They are our dear friends.

Mike and Danni Sue Jobe along with their daughters, Melissa and Monica, were helpful in so many ways.

To anyone we forgot to thank, please forgive us. It was not done intentionally. To everyone else, please pray for our family. We need the Lord and his guiding hand to help us at this most difficult time.

DEAN and KAREN RILEY, Cape Girardeau
