To the editor:
As our U.S. senators prepare to vote on the Federal Marriage Amendment and our own state prepares to vote Aug. 3 on a state constitutional amendment protecting marriage, my family and I want to strongly encourage support of both of these measures.
For those who believe we do not need a constitutional amendment, we must realize the judges of Massachusetts and judges across the nation have left us no choice. We must protect this sacred institution, which is God's intended design for society. Without a strong constitutional amendment, our nation will fall sway to the whims of the judicial system and those who want us to believe that marriage can be between any two people.
God ordained marriage as the union of one man and one woman, and we must not allow this basic building block of society to be perverted. What we do now will make or break the nation we give our children and grandchildren. May God have mercy upon our nation, and may we as a nation be restored once again to our Godly heritage.
