Passing ISRS is critical to Missouri's energy and economic future. The low price of power here is a critical economic advantage, and we need to make prudent investments to maintain it -- especially with an electrical infrastructure that is aging as quickly as ours. ISRS will jump-start this process by making it easier for our utility companies to recover money they invest in upgrading our infrastructure. This leads to more infrastructure projects and, of course, more jobs for Missourians. Putting people to work ensuring that the price we pay for power remains low just makes good sense to me.

In the long run, these investments put Missouri in a much stronger position to attract new industries. Our push for the Small Modular Reactor [SMR] industry is a perfect example. SMRs represent a $25 billion economic opportunity all on its own. So, these infrastructure investments have a clear payoff.

Yes, I am always concerned about changes to laws and regulations that could impact me as a consumer. But, from what I understand, ISRS makes sure that the Public Service Commission is still in charge of reviewing exactly how money is spent on infrastructure projects. So, the needs of customers, as always, will come first.

I can't find one reason that state Sen. Wallingford should not be supporting this ISRS legislation.

Sincerely,
