The official start to summer may be a few weeks away. However, the Memorial Day weekend kicks off a host of summertime activities in Southeast Missouri.
The wait is over for Saturday's opening of Cape Girardeau's new water park. The Cape Splash Family Aquatic Center will provide a great opportunity for families to experience a 700-foot-long lazy river, water slides, a lap pool and a beautiful picnic area. Additional space has also been added to the nearby Osage Community Centre. The much anticipated opening of the water park is sure to be a hit with families, especially with the hotter weather.
Teen Challenge will hold its annual strawberry festival Saturday. Complimentary strawberry shortcake is one of the attractions at this year's festival.
Friday night, Old Town Cape's Tunes at Twilight will present the Cantrells. The hour long concert will start at 7 p.m. at the Common Pleas Courthouse gazebo in Cape Girardeau.
The annual 100-Mile Yard Sale began Thursday and will run through Memorial Day. The sale is taking place along Highway 25 from Jackson to Kennett, Mo.
Whether you splash, pick strawberries, listen or shop, there are plenty of activities. Check semoevents.com for the most up-to-date list of activities.
