Bond, Ashcroft keep up the good fight
I WANT to thank Senators Bond and Ashcroft for standing up to our lying president. Thank you for standing up and saying no to the nuclear test ban treaty that the Chinese, the Soviet Union, the Russians, the Indians and the Pakistanis have not agreed to abide by. You knew you'd be called warmongers, yet you voted the right way. Thank you for standing up against President Clinton's appointment of Judge White. He's a liberal problem for the court, and he interprets the Constitution the way he wants it to be, not the way it's written. Thank you for standing up to him even though you knew you'd be called racist. Thank you for keeping the Republican plan going. Let's do some more. Let's stop their ideas on campaign spending, and let's do a campaign reform that's good for Republicans. Let's do things that are good for us.
Take your kicking ability elsewhere
FIRST OF all I'd like to say congratulations to the kid from Central who can kick those enormously long field goals. That is a great talent in today's world. Second, I'd like to give him some advice. If you are approached by SEMO, run, don't walk, away. Please don't be sucked in by what the local people will tell you in how you can help that team. They will never amount to anything. Go somewhere that has a good reputation and a good school and take advantage of this gift.
We're headed the wrong direction
I NOTICED in the paper about female impersonators at Auntie Albert's. I think it's a shame when a city is growing but not growing in a positive direction. I'm disappointed that there would even be a market for this sort of thing in Cape Girardeau.

Congress gets more than old people
I WAS just wondering why when the senators and representatives voted their cost-of-living raise gave themselves 3-point-something percent, and when they figured for the old people it only came to 2.4 percent. I don't understand how their cost of living is any higher than ours. Ours is probably higher because we have to have more medications.
Dr. Jekyll-and-Mr. Hyde psychosis
THE MACHIAVELLIAN machinations of Clinton are just unbelievable. First he degraded American values by his despicable conduct, causing havoc among our people, and now he's acting charitable by hiring thousands of extra police to combat all the violent behavior he has caused in our nation. His Dr. Jekyll-and-Mr. Hyde psychosis is tearing America apart. It will sure be good riddance when he is gone.
Miss Kelly is a great woman
I APPRECIATE the article about Miss Kelly. She's a great woman and a sweetheart to everybody. I'm sorry that the world doesn't have very many people like her. Thanks again for your article. I know her sons must be very proud of it.
