GOOD AFTERNOON. THIS is Jean at Dr. Ebaugh's office and can I leave word for Mr. Thomas Neumeyer to give me a call at his earliest convenience. It's very important that I talk with him. The number here in Dallas is 214-368-5556 and I will be in the office, today's Thursday, until 6:00. Thank you...

YES SPEAK OUT please print this badly needed article. This pertains to the gossipers we have in our society. I thoroughly agree with Mike Seib's article "Pinpoint" in Monday, Nov. 26 paper. I moved away from here a number of years then returned because of the good schools here for my children. Now I must say I do believe gossip is the main subject for most meetings whether they be private clubs, church circles, community socials, business meetings or just plain backyard gossip. It is not just petty gossip but gossip that is intended to really throw someone's character, family life, or public positions. They are use harassing telephone calls to infringe on private lives and to relieve them of just plain jealously. There should be a law passed to make gossip a misdemeanor and punish them like a thief because they are stealing the victim's reputation and home contentment which is really what the object is. A liar can do more harm in one day with their malicious tongues and they do not even know what they are trying to prove. I wonder if they ever heard of the Ten Commandments? Let's say down on gossipers. Thank you, Mike Seib, for telling it exactly like it is, and thank you Speak Out for publishing this.

THE GIRL SCOUTS are helping the Downtown Merchants open the Christmas Season Monday, Dec. 3, 5:00 p.m. They will be singing Christmas carols and Jingle Bell Rock from the courthouse steps. The public is invited to come. Catch the holiday spirit in downtown Cape. Santa Claus will be there to deliver a treat to the girls from the Downtown Merchants.

THERE IS A conspiracy being committed at Shawnee High School. Faculty members such as Superintendent, principle, and student council, are allowing honor roll students go in front of everyone else in the lunch lines. This is discrimination against students with learning disabilities and even average students. If there isn't anything done by the faculty members then the students at Shawnee will be forced to take matters into their own hands. Please show your support for the students of Shawnee by calling Shawnee High School or McClure Grade School. Thanks.

IF WE DON'T have an earthquake Monday or Tuesday, we're going to have a flood instead when everybody pulls out that xxxx bottled water.

I HAVE COME to the conclusion that I can no longer watch channel 12 TV. The news that these people have on is just repeat after repeat after repeat. If it's not the earthquake they're talking about, it's Heussin the Middle East. I think it's time that they laid this to rest and do away with one of these newscast that they do not need. They're only doing this because channel 6 started this years ago. But at least channel 6 has different news on when they come on at different times of the day where channel 12 is just repeat and repeat. I am so sick of it I am no longer watching channel 12.

I'D JUST LIKE to say that this gas price thing from Saudi Arabia is not what it all seems. Sikeston has had their gas anywhere from $1.02 to $1.12 in the last month. It seems funny that Sikeston gets their gas from the same people Cape does but yet Sikeston can sell their for $1.02.9 a gallon, or $1.05.9 a gallon, or $1.11.9 gallon. Even Scott City can sell their for $1.19 and Cape can't go below $1.24? Come on people, wake up.

OFFICIAL NEWS RELEASE. A joint meeting of the Capt. of the Port, St. Louis, Capt. of the Port, Memphis, U.S. Army Corp of Engineers, and the U.S. Coast Guard was held Wed., Nov. 28 to discuss the release of methane gas from various points along the Mississippi River bed between Memphis, Tenn. and St. Louis, Mo. The U.S. Coast Guard buoy tender path finder has collected samples and are being analyzed at the center for earthquake studies in Denver, Colo. Our early findings are nonconclusive but an expert from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has indicated the source of the methane gas is from an excessive amount of carp farts. The Capt. of the Ports, St. Louis and Memphis, have issued an advisory for tows transiting the area to use double couplings and to cease the open burning of refuse until further notice.

WHO CAN HELP me understand more about the War Powers Act? How long has it been in existence and why was it created and what can we as ordinary interested citizens do to get rid of it? I have heard several scholars say lately on TV that it's very likely unconstitutional and I would like to get something done about it. Thank you.

I LIVE IN the Fruitland area and I'm concerned with the fact of an earthquake happening in my lifetime. I live near a water tower and was wondering if the water towers in our area were made to withstand earthquakes. Thank you.

I READ IN the Missourian that Don Ford was recently appointed to an important fundraising position with Southeast Missouri University. Is it the Don Ford that was vice-president of Lenco under his brother Jerry Ford as president's leadership the same person that helped this company in Jackson go bankrupt? If it is, SEMO has made a poor choice. Thank you.

I'M JUST READING Thursday's Southeast Missourian and I see where Southeast's provost, Leslie Cochran, said that the faculty is not dismissing classes. I think he should probably check with some of his faculty members. There are several faculty members who have informed their students that they will not be holding a class on Monday even though the University is officially open.
