I WAS CALLING in reference to an article that Rush Limbaugh mentioned on his show. It was written by David Horowitz with the intention of being printed in the (coop ad???) pages of newspapers. Its focus was exposing the facets and hypocrisies of the peace movement since he use to be a peace demonstrator. This isn't necessarily a comment that I want to be printed in Speak Out but I would like to request that the newspaper run the David Horowitz article on its (coop ad????) page if it could do so. Thank you.

I WAS WONDERING if there was anywhere in the Cape area where someone could go for alcohol abuse counseling that doesn't have any insurance and not much money. They have tried AA and that wasn't the answer. They need more in depth. I'd sure appreciate it if you could let me know. Thank you.

I'M SICK TO death of Rev. Koen's remarks that everything that's done around him is racially motivated. Does he think it was some white guy that made him supposedly burn down his office building? Thank you.

ARE PENNIES AMERICAN money? I always thought so until last night. I was in Del Farm standing in line behind a nice clean cut guy. He had a dollar bill and three dollars worth of rolled pennies. He was buying chips, lunch meat and bread. Well they refused to take his rolled pennies. They were going to void the sale altogether. The girl was on the phone to the office and they said no. I bought the pennies from him so he could have his food. It's bad enough to use pennies for food I know much less be refused because of them. I have never been so outraged in all my life. I just thought the people of Cape ought to know what this world is coming to. Don't use pennies at Del Farm, they're no good there, but food stamps are. Thank you.

THANK GOODNESS SOMEONE knows what the true colors that we ought to be tying on the trees and on the cars and stuff to honor the troops and has always been our colors in the USA as red, white, and blue. I don't know who came up with the yellow ribbon bit but when I was a kid and you got in a fight the kid would yell `you're yellow' if you were the one they wanted to beat up on. So, I don't know who came up with the yellow ribbon bit but it disgusts me. Red, white, and blue is the good ole USA. Thank you.

YES, I'D JUST like to thank the SEMO southeast Missouri students who put on the support the yellow ribbon rally Tuesday evening at the SEMO University. As a Vietnam veteran I was very touched by the words spoken by the speakers and by the attitude that the students showed for support for the people in the Persian Gulf. I was privileged to carry the American flag during the ceremony. I love our country very much and again I want to thank the southeast Missouri students for their very touching ceremony. I'M AN ELDERLY lady and I wanted to say thank you to a very nice and polite young lady that works for Trans World Express at the airport. She was so kind and helpful to me when my flight was canceled. If more young people would smile as she does the city of Cape would be a whole lot nicer place to live. I'D LIKE TO know why all the Iraqi people believe they're doing right by stealing Kuwait people property and stuff and being their own kind of brother. What kind of religion do they teach them over there? We are taught not to steal from thy brother. Thank you.

THIS IS TO the people that broke into my car Wednesday night. You can keep the $72 purse and even the $30 wallet, just please do not take the red and pink pills that were in my purse. They can be very dangerous to people they were not prescribed for. Also, it devastates me not to have my pictures. Please leave them in my garage. Believe me, it would be greatly appreciated. I HEARD WHERE one of the Missouri legislators is proposing a $500 million tax increase, $292 million to be spent on higher education, the rest to be spent on elementary and secondary education. When they told us about the lottery and wanted us to vote it in they told us that money was going to be spent on education too. What are they going to do with this money?

YOU HEAR SO much about they're going to raise taxes, if they need more money, instead of giving people a $46,000 a year raise, why don't they take that money?

I WAS CALLING in Speak Out about people saying that Bush is doing a good job over there. Now the reason why that is, those people haven't had any experience over there. They don't know what they're talking about. They've walked the streets of the United States and have never done any fighting. The thing of it is, it's not funny over there and you're not doing a good job when you're in war and getting shot at. Another thing, Dan Quayle should be sent over there because he was in the National Guard and he hasn't been doing nothing here that I have seen. Let me tell you, I'm 70-years-old and I know what I'm talking about, I've seen it. People sitting around talking about his doing a good job - I'll tell you something else, the Republicans had better put their shoes on both feet because I've been Republican all my life up until now but I won't be anymore after this administration. Thank you very much.

THIS WAR IS a terrible thing with our boys all the way over there. But, I just wonder, it's a good thing this Republican party to hide behind during this recession we've been having and the hard times. It's a good thing to hide behind and they won't want to change drivers in the middle of the stream on election day. Thank you.

I'M TIRED OF hearing these people in the Speak Out pretending to be patriots. The true meaning of patriotism is not that you're pro-government, it's you're for this country. If people in this country believe that something is bad for this country, they not only have the right to protest, they have an obligation to protest. Thank you.

I WOULD LIKE to thank those who were responsible for the pictures of our boys in the Gulf out at the window at the mall. My grandson is one of those boys and I'd just like to thank whoever had anything to do with putting them up and thank you for caring. Thank you for caring. Thank you so much.

AS A PARENT of Nell Holcomb School District I would like to ask our school board to consider reinstating the assertive discipline program. I think my children deserve a quiet place for learning. Thank you.

IN TONIGHT'S PAPER it states that the Schultz School is 77 years old. Was it the first high school in Cape or was there one before this building was built? If so, where was it located? Thank you.

WOULD THE PERSON that took the ribbon from the front of St. Mark's Lutheran Church please return it? It was put there by the Darcus Circle in honor of our men and women that are serving in the Persian Gulf at this time. Thank you very much.

ARE WE EVER going to get our regularly scheduled programs back, including MASH? It is the only decent, clean program on the air, a program you can get a laugh from and relieve some of the stress we have been seeing day and night since this war started.

YES, I WOULD just like to say I think that all the people who are griping about the war need to really open their eyes and take a look around. They seem to be griping about the wrong thing. They gripe about protesters and everything but it seems like all they have to do is gripe. Thank you.

YES, I WAS wondering if you could tell me how can parents do something about getting their kids out of foster care. My kids have been in for almost a year and the social workers are giving us a raw deal. So, I was wondering if there is anything I can do and how to do it. Thank you.

AFTER READING YOUR story about the two women from Poplar Bluff who have sons working for CNN in Saudi Arabia, I've been wondering about the sons. Did they ever live in Poplar Bluff? How old are they? Did they know each other in Poplar Bluff? Have they worked together before or are they, apparently they're not working together now. Did they go to school at SEMO or SIU or ever work at a radio station around here? I'm trying to figure out if I might know them.

I SEE OUR brilliant city manager is hollering about the count on the census in Cape Girardeau saying that so many units had not been counted, housing units. Has it ever dawned on him that maybe some of those housing units are not occupied yet? You don't count the unit, you count the people, that's the way you figure up the census. Thank you.
