I AM calling about a city earnings tax instead of taxing the people of Cape Girardeau. We live here on fixed incomes, and we can't pay the higher taxes. I know for a fact that a lot of people work in Cape Girardeau and make their money here, but a lot of them have remarked that they wouldn't spend their money in Cape Girardeau. So I think it should be the out-of-towners who make their living here in Cape that should pay the city earnings tax.
I'M CALLING about the possibility that the city might close the restaurant at the Cape Girardeau Regional Airport. I drive to the airport every morning to eat breakfast at this restaurant. Believe me I have eaten at practically every restaurant in Cape, and the Runway Restaurant is one of the best in my opinion. The food is great, the employees are great and the people who frequent the restaurant are among the best in town. I believe people should take the time to drive about five miles to see what a quality restaurant Cape has. The atmosphere beats most other places in town. If the city can subsidize the golf course, I believe it should do the same for this restaurant. If the aircraft manufacturing company locates at the airport, the restaurant will be a necessity.
PETER KINDER wrote a very inspired and perfect column on how important it is that the judges that presidents appoint for lifetime careers not to be card-carrying liberals like U.S. District Judge Russell Clark of the Western District. Appointed by Jimmy Carter, Clark has ordered that Missourians pay $1.3 billion to Kansas City schools for what he thinks is the cure to improving education for minorities. This is not just a well-documented waste of money. Money has been stolen by bureaucrats. Test scores remain low because liberalism destroys people. Judge Russell cannot be dethroned. He should be brought before a court of constitutional militia and made to answer for his crimes.
I WOULD like to comment on how when the Republicans were on this budget cut, the news media like CNN said how it was going to take food away from the children and stuff like this. Then when the president decides to join on the idea, they all start talking on how much it is going to save and stuff like this when actually spending is going to go up.
THE WALL mural committee forgot Roy Rogers. He was born in Joplin. I think he should be on the wall along with his wife Dale Evans.
IF UNITED States would stop selling military equipment, there would be a whole lot less military fighting around the world. The United States is the cause of most of this fighting.
DOWNTOWN MERCHANTS, I really enjoy shopping downtown but please lose the music. It is very annoying.
