CAN'T JUSTICE be found anywhere in this world? This lawyer -- so he is old -- didn't seem too old to indulge in the game of drugs. This young mother, who is not by no means innocent, should be out of prison also. She should be home taking care of her children. If he got out, she should get out.

Library decision

THE JACKSON City Council has done the right thing in letting the public library operate on the tax money it takes in. The 1965 state law causes over half the citizens of Jackson to pay Riverside Library tax instead of city library tax. To supplement the city library with city other city funds would be the same as a double tax on the Riverside taxpayers who live within the city limits. The Jackson City Council has made a sound business decision that is fair to everyone. Thanks for taking care of my tax dollars.

Parents As Teachers

HOW COME Cape Girardeau public schools can't get excited about their Parents As Teachers program? Gov. Carnahan said Scott City schools were doing a good job. REPLY: Most participants in the Cape Girardeau Parents As Teachers program think highly of the program and consider it to be one of the best in the region. The program provides training for parents of children up to 3 years old to provide learning opportunities at home. The program and offers developmental screening in the young children.
