HEARD TODAY in a local coffee shop: If Charlton Heston is going to align himself with the Republicans and Jo Ann Emerson, I hope he doesn't win his next chariot race.
I WOULD like to make a comment about the minimum-wage hike. Isn't it true that if the minimum wage is up, certain items will cost more to produce? In a month from now, won't President Clinton get on TV and start telling how the economy is growing, people are spending more? But the thing he won't tell people is that they have to spend more to make up for the minimum wage. Will Bill Clinton get up on TV and try and take credit saying he got this economy moving by the minimum-wage hike when actually people actually had to pay more.
IF YOU are a multimillionaire, I can understand why you will vote the Republican ticket. Personally, I'm not in the big-money circle, so I'm voting a straight Democratic ticket.
WHY IS it that the United States has to have its nose in every country's problems? We need to put our nose in our own problems. I'm referring to the fellow from the Middle East who came over here who wears a tablecloth for a head covering. All these people have ever known is fighting. Bill Clinton or nobody else is going to get peace with these people, and it's time we wash our hands of them and take care of our own problems. No matter who's in charge of the White House, it's time to stop this malarkey and leave these people alone and let them fight among themselves. The U.S. has no business doing their fighting for them as in the Persian Gulf. All this is going to bring to the United States is more terrorism. Get our nose out from over there and leave those people alone and take care of our own problems.
THERE'S VERY little either Dole or Clinton can do as president about crime. Morals cannot be dictated or legislated but if Bill Clinton has nothing to hide, why does he use his executive privilege to hide certain papers regarding drugs in this country during his administration?
THE PAPER just full about Bill Clinton today again, and I think it's a shame that there is so much hatred in people's hearts. After all, he was voted in by the people, and he did a darn good job this year, so far. And I think the people should give him credit. If not, God will, that's for sure. There are some raps being put out that's not true, and I think somebody should straighten it out.
THE LATEST Iraq crisis appears to be over with these results: First, Saddam Hussein is stronger than ever with not a chance of his overthrow. The CIA has been involved in another operational and intelligence phases of failures with $100 million lost in the process. The Desert Storm coalition is in shambles with the announced additional 5,000 troops reluctantly accepted by Kuwait. Secondly, thus the Iraq crisis has all the earmarks of a monumental failure for President Clinton. The well-informed Sam Nunn, a Democrat from Georgia, said on CNN that there is no long-range policy for dealing with Iraq and that he does not understand the purpose for sending 5,000 troops. Guess Clinton has another fiasco in foreign policy, if he can call it foreign policy, just like his failed situation in Haiti, his screwed up mess with Cuba and now he's bogged us down in the so-called Bosnia situation. He was supposed to be out of there this fall, and he's already said that he's going to have to put 5,000 more troops in there to stay until March. Everywhere he turns on so-called foreign affairs, he's failed, and our country is going down the tube as a result of that.
I WOULD just like to say that little boys had better not be kissing their little sisters, because they could be charged with incest. Have you heard anything so ridiculous as these little boys giving a little girl a peck on the cheek? One of these days, a boy will be scared to kiss his girlfriend good night.
I SURE do hate it that I wasn't here to get my picture taken with Moses, Charlton Heston. I'm going to tell you what I'm going to do. I'm going to send $1,000 to Emily Firebaugh. What do you think about that?
I WISH to comment on our perverted world today. This is absolutely pitiful when little children are reprimanded because they hugged another little child. I think it's the worse thing that I've heard yet. Some old ballplayer can walk up just like Satan and spit in another man's face, and they'll forget him enough to let him do his work and get his pay and all that. What kind of a world do we have today? God help us.
EVERY DAY now I'm bored to death reading about how some small business person will have to close because of higher minimum wage. Again, he doesn't have to close. Just let his kids and relatives work for him and lay everybody off or lock it up for good.
