BILL CLINTON fooled, used and duped all of you people who voted for him. It's as simple as that.
I HAVE a question. Does anybody who has lied all of his life -- who's a habitual liar, maybe even a pathological liar, one who has cheated on his spouse time and time and time again -- become suddenly contrite over night, sorry for what he did? Or was he just sorry that he got caught? I know that Bill Clinton regrets that he got caught, but there is not a contrite bone in his body. He is not ashamed that he did what he did. He's not even sorry that he did what he did. He's only contrite and sorry that he finally got caught.
REGARDLESS OF job description, conservation agents and state troopers shouldn't hold a "let's pull over a bunch of cars and arrest somebody party" at any time or place, especially on a Sunday afternoon in Jackson.
HERE WE are in Dodge City East, and we have a state senator who reminds of the bumper sticker that went "Gun control is hitting what you aim at." That was a joke, Petey. Gun control should be keeping guns out of the hands of the likes of the people who did the shooting last week. Other countries do it, so why can't we? Even the National Rifle Association wouldn't allow guns in the meeting of its national convention. A proper trip to prison for possession of guns would stop or at least slow down the foolishness. Get with it.
YOU KNOW, it's just a shame that everybody who calls in to Speak Out has to think of something negative. I would like to see one week of people calling in about things that are good about the city and good about their neighbors and good about the schools and good about their friends and the people int he community instead of always looking for something negative to call in about. Seems such a waste. And I'd like to see something change.
I WOULD like to respond to your forgotten-soldier dedication that was recently published in your TBY magazine. Although I am not a veteran, this poem touched me deeply. I would like Jimmy and all those who served their country to know that all Americans have not forgotten them. We owe our freedom to people like you and would like to say thanks for the sacrifice you have made to keep this nation free.
THE INTERNET tax is not for taxing use of Internet but to pay for public schools' Internet usage.
I JUST wanted to say congratulations to the coach and players on the Otahkian volleyball squad. They did themselves proud by winning the OVC tournament and playing so well against Stanford University in the NCAA playoffs. We look forward to another great season as many of the players will be returning next year.
THIS IS to the caller who commented about the strange people talking to themselves in their cars in Cape. I'm one of those people who can have a great conversation with myself and work out lots of problems while I'm driving in my car. I thank God I've got enough of a life to be able to do this and that I don't have to look for excitement and entertainment by watching other people in their cars.
WHY WOULD anyone want to continue as president or any job under the circumstances Mr. Clinton is under? How can he look anyone in the eye with conscience? Wouldn't anyone with character want this behind him and his family? Wouldn't any normal human being be ashamed and embarrassed of his perverted acts and lies? And most would resign and step down and not let the media continue their show. For the good of his family and country, he should resign. Is he trying to say that laws are for others and not him, or that any conduct is acceptable and he sets the standards? I guess it shows how power hungry he and the first lady are. And it also shows where the country's morals and values are. Doesn't it scare anyone that this person would do anything, say anything to prove himself right no matter what, even degrading our institutions? And scum politicians and news media on his coat tails are almost tragic. They see the moral values of the country slipping, and instead of holding it up they get aboard his train, just watching the polls with one eye and Mr. Clinton with the other.
I DRIVE from Jackson to Cape everyday and am distressed to see the flag at the water slide hanging faded and tattered. Whoever has the business, please replace it or take it down.
THIS IS to the person who thinks it's wrong for teen-agers to take off one hour from school to go to the orthodontist. How often do they go? Probably every six to eight weeks are their appointments. How many kids do you think go to orthodontists? I know, I have a 14-year-old high school freshman. Sometimes we can get his appointments after school, and sometimes we can't. Our orthodontist is always so busy that he has hardly time to crowd anymore in at all. There's no way that all those kids can go after school. And orthodontics is important. Without it, some kids would even lose their teeth.
