I JUST wanted to state my opinion. If President Clinton was held to the same standards that Clarence Thomas was, there wouldn't be any question about what would happen to him. But it probably won't happen that way, because everyone is ready to forgive him. The devil himself could take lessons from this guy, he's so slick.
I'M CALLING in response to the lady who made the comment about English being the official language of our country. I felt the exact same way until I went to Switzerland and wasn't able to speak any German at all, and I've never been so happy as I was when I met people who could communicate with me. In Switzerland, all the students are taught at least both German and English. There's no harm in knowing more than one language, but there is harm in being ignorant and just assuming that because someone comes to our country they'll speak our language.
AT FIRST, I thought it would be terrible to have Al Gore as president after Bill Clinton, but I've changed my mind. Anything would be better as president of this country than Bill Clinton.
SO HILLARY'S going to stand by her man. Well, she's the power behind the throne anyway and she knows if he goes, she goes. What else can we expect her to do?
JOHN ASHCROFT appeared on Fox News Sunday, and this is what he did. He hammered at the president and his allies and said, "These people are willing to sacrifice the country, its future and its past to make these charges appear to be less serious." Ashcroft said that about what he called Clinton spinmeisters who appeared on Sunday-morning talk shows.
BEFORE FEDERAL and state legislators get a whole bunch more money for increased spending on education, I would hope they examine whether increased spending by a third party has ever increased educational standards. If you look at what President Clinton did in Arkansas with all the extra money he pumped into education, they went all the way from 49th to 48th. Anytime you have a third party spending money, all you do is add to the cost of that product, especially when that third party is the government. It's our money, and we want it spent wisely.
I AGREE with Judge Grimm's decision on placing Girard on probation and sending him to Teen Challenge. Being on probation, if he violates it, he will be sent to prison. This way, maybe he will turn his life around at no cost to the taxpayer, as Judge Grimm said.
I WOULD like to make a comment on riverboat gambling. Since we're not going to get a boat, why don't we set up a gambling train that would go from here to St. Louis to Union Station or either go from here to Memphis? I know there's people who would take that train just to do shopping up at Union Station. Think about that, a gambling train. You would get to see the of the river that most people wouldn't get to see other than the people who work on the river. I think it would be unique, and it would also help Cape expand.
