I JUST read the Speak Out from the woman who is unhappy with her mailman, something about not picking up letters. I just wish everyone could have my mailman. He is so kind and wonderful, and he comes in to pick up my mail even if I don't have any outgoing mail. I'm not saying he has to do it. He probably doesn't. He just does it because he's a great employee and a really nice person to be around. The post office should give him some kind of medal, but I know they won't. Thank you for letting me speak out about my mailman, the greatest guy in the world.
I WOULD Like to bring up a point about how they're about ready to hand out these condoms in school and start teaching kids about safe sex to prevent them from getting certain diseases. Well, would this also apply to needle exchange? You know, they tell us adults that kids are going to go ahead and do it. Wouldn't it be the same for drug use? Hey, maybe they're going to go ahead and use drugs, why not give them clean needles? It's the same purpose as handing out condoms, isn't it.
I WAS very offended when a Delta High School student said they watched MTV during final exams. They watched music videos showing a kid going into a classroom and shooting other students. The viewing students who were watching MTV were exempt from final exams and took a vote on what to watch. There was a teacher in the room supervising. Am I the only one who thinks there's something wrong with this?
IF I can teach my children anything it would be that Jesus is the reason for all seasons, not just at Christmas, but for all our seasons. We should thank him every day for all the blessings he bestows upon us. He is my Lord and Savior.
I SAW In your paper where the City Council's approved $20,000 to do a study of what's wrong with the police department's radio. Why didn't they ask the policemen what was wrong with them? Couldn't they spend the $20,000 to get new radios? So now we're out $20,000 for a study. That seems just a little bit of a stupid waste of my tax dollars.
I'M JUST wondering if anybody would tell me if it is legal to use automobile tires to hold a roof down on a building.
I CAN'T believe Clinton and his friends are worried about his legacy and his library in Little Rock. What kind of people would donate to this? People with the same values and philosophy, I guess, he has. Will it have a statue of Monica, a wall with names of all the women he's had affairs or disgraced? Would there be a list of lies or maybe a list of people who donated and accept abortion, homosexuality, bearing false witness if it's for the cause and a liberal communist viewpoint?
THE VERY hypocrisy and mockery of the Clintons to expect American taxpayers to pay their legal fees when Clinton was impeached and would have been removed from office had not the corrupt senators saved him from conviction. Clinton brought all these violations charged by the Congress on himself and has no one to blame but himself. He should be feeling relieved and remorseful instead of arrogant.
I RECENTLY got married. About a week prior to my wedding I received a card in the mail and it was signed "Just a friend." It was a beautiful card, and there was some money in the card. I do not know who it's from, but I just want to express my sincere gratitude for the thoughtfulness of this anonymous individual. Thank you very much from the bottom of my heart.
WELL, I'M amazed that the school board is once again ready to tax and spend the citizens of Cape Girardeau's money. They want to spend $26 million to replace a school that's really not even old by standards of schools in normal communities. This is just part of the tax-and-spend mentality that comes from Washington. Our leader, President Clinton, and Mel Carnahan, our governor, think that all they have to do is take our money and do whatever they want to with it. I guess it comes to the local level now. It's a little disappointing that we can't seem to get fiscal responsibility in any of our government units whether it be federal, state or local.
