Where was liberal bias for Newt?

NOW THAT Newt Gingrich's adulterous affair has come to light and is widely reported that it was an open secret in Washington, I have a question for the right-wing group in this area: How do you claim that the press has a liberal bias when a right-winger like Newt Gingrich can get away for years with actions that the press has been deriding and attacking Bill Clinton for, actions that weren't any worse and were less overt than Newt's? You've been trying to obtain an advantage by actions that were thoroughly dishonest and reprehensible. If the press was biased, as you say, why wasn't a vicious, obnoxious phony scumbag jerk like Newt outed years ago? Please give an honest explanation, or apologize if you are big enough.

Newt had the dignity to resign

THERE IS a very good reason that there has not been a big news blitz on the Newt Gingrich sexual misconduct allegations. When Mr. Gingrich felt he had become a burden to his party and his country, he resigned. It is a shame that President CLinton did not have the dignity to do the same thing. Clinton's only concern was himself, not our country.

A ready-made excuse for mayhem

HI. I'M just sitting here reading the Southeast Missourian and another little article about how Hollywood movies and music are driving our kids to the brink of destruction and causing them to do all these unspeakable acts of violence. I was wondering: How stupid does the government think kids are nowadays? When they read these articles, don't they realize that these kids are smart enough today to think, "Hey, there's my ready-made excuse. I can do anything I want, and blame that movie."

Students were wearing Deer Creek uniforms

THERE WAS a comment in Speak Out about the children pictured in the paper during the recent George Bush visit. It said most of them had on khaki shorts and were wondered if this was part of a school uniform. Yes, it is, and these children were from the Deer Creek Christian Academy in Cape Girardeau.

Give me money or else ...

IT APPEARS that President Clinton needs to be spoken of as the doomsayer. Every day I see either in the paper or hear on TV he comes up with something that's going to be doomed if he doesn't get more money to spend. No matter what, he finds something that is going to be done away with if he doesn't spend more taxpayers' money. I think everyone should consider this in light of his history of lying. We never know if he's telling the truth.

George W. has a divine mission

AS THE old saying goes, what goes around comes around, Republicans. You have set yourself up sanctimoniously as the only Christian party in the world and the Democratic party as the devil's party and you are God's shining light. You've bragged about family values and promoted yourselves as purists. You know what? I really think the Lord is a little upset that you act like you're so much better and condemn, condemn, condemn. Rethink this thing with old George Bush. He was sent here to straighten your butts out.

What is the real motivation?

THIS IS in response the to the editor by attorney Michael McGuire in reference to Judge White and Senator Ashcroft. I wonder if Mr. McGuire thinks that the people whom this fellow killed are any less dead because he might have been suffering from Vietnam syndrome or it made this guy incapacitated to commit murder. What difference does it make what his mental state was? If he was able to commit murder, he would be able to commit murder again. I think a lot of this is tied up in the desire for legal fees rather than the desire for justice.
