I JUST saw in the paper where the lawmakers here in Missouri are trying to decide whether to lower the blood-alcohol content limit from 0.1 to 0.08. The federal government says if we don't lower it to 0.08 it will cut millions of dollars off from the state. That's sounds like extortion and blackmail. If a person tried that, they'd be put in prison. But the government does it everyday. I just wonder how long before the swastika flag is flying over the federal buildings of this country. And like the country song goes, "Some day, sometime, someplace, somebody's going to have to take this country back." Our forefathers never imagined it would go this far. What can we do? More liberties and more freedoms are being lost every day because the government decides it knows how we should live. This has gone far enough.
I WAS standing in line making a purchase. When I pulled money out of my pocket, $1 fell out. The young gentleman behind me in line handed it to me and said it fell out of my pocket. I wouldn't have known that if he hadn't told me. His name was Lavelle Simpson. He attends Franklin School.
THIS IS in response to the letter in the paper by Jerry D. Wolsey, "Veteran officer opposes Proposition B." I'd like to point to Sgt. John Johnson's quote in the story, "Law enforcement association supports Proposition B." "The reality is there are good people out there who need this law to protect themselves." Think about the common person out on the street. Let's face it, the criminals already have guns.
I DO not believe in capital punishment. I believe we should be Christian enough to do the will of God. He did not punish Cain with death, only banishment.
CLINTON'S TELEVISED impeachment trial accomplished one clear thing. It gave the people a bird's-eye view of the stupidity of our politicians in this sham trial. It was like a kangaroo court: already rigged.
IF YOU ask the president's supporters about his adultery and sex scandals, many will answer the same answer: They all do it. What a copout. What an excuse. Is it OK if they all do it? Is this what you tell your children and grandchildren? What a disgrace to have this attitude. There are decent people, and there are decent politicians. We just have to elect them.
I THINK Jerry Wolsey is completely wrong. The concealed weapons Proposition B will not allow anyone to carry a firearm in a tavern, a bank or school. We already have laws against this. He's using scare tactics.
