ANYONE CAN see it is truthful the Democratic Party, the great Christian party of the 1930s, 1940s, and 1950s, has become no more than a garbage dump with a grass-root's base with no pretense of Christian values in its platform with God's laws mentioned only in ceremony and symbolism to console and fool a few Christians among them. Who would have dreamed this would have happened to our party...

Beyond imagination

ANYONE CAN see it is truthful the Democratic Party, the great Christian party of the 1930s, 1940s, and 1950s, has become no more than a garbage dump with a grass-root's base with no pretense of Christian values in its platform with God's laws mentioned only in ceremony and symbolism to console and fool a few Christians among them. Who would have dreamed this would have happened to our party.

Explain, please

REGARDING THE editorial accusing Cape and Jackson school districts of willfully ignoring the Missouri law that states no public school student shall be promoted to a higher grade level unless that student has a reading ability at or above one grade level below the student's grade level: I hope the superintendents or our school boards will explain this to us in an upcoming letter to the editor or in Speak Out.

Democrats did it

THE SOCIALIST Democrat who called in praising Hillary Clinton's Marxist approach to health care was wrong in saying that it was defeated by a Republican-controlled Congress. The Re-publicans gained control long after her socialist agenda was defeated by the Democrat-controlled Congress the only right thing the Democrats ever did in 70 years. The same Congress pass-ed and Clinton signed into law the largest tax increase in history. Just part of the tax-spend Democratic plan.

Trivial things

I feel sorry for the person who hates cats. Animals have proven to be great companions for the lonely and the elderly. And they also have been proven to lower blood pressure. Maybe instead of worrying about cat fertilizer in your garden, you might want to say a prayer tonight and thank God for what you have and stop griping about trivial things.

Some are takers

Can you believe these people the Democrats bused in to disrupt the Republican convention? They are called the Right to Welfare. Can you believe that? We have more jobs than we have workers, yet they want welfare. This is not spontaneous. It is planned by the Democratic Party. The Democrats promise anything for voters to the people who do nothing for themselves or America. It is the old Communist line: Make everyone equal even if you are lazy, no character or have no ambition. We always have these takers in our society, but their numbers are growing along with our low moral values.

A former Democrat

After observing the political scene the last eight years, I have to agree with a friend and neighbor. There is no way you can be a Christian and support a Democratic platform with its view on homosexuality and abortion and making excuses for a filthy president. I never thought I would say this about any political party, especially one that I used to support.

More restrictions

A Speak Out caller called in the other day opposed to another caller who was for cameras at the Cape Girardeau intersections because of the loss of our liberties and freedoms. I agree 100 percent. We don't need Big Brother looking over us everywhere we go. But then this caller totally contradicts him or herself by saying there are people who want to restrict others from having abortions. Well, when someone has an abortion, she is restricting the liberties and freedoms of another human being. Everyone should have the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

Stop the increases

DO PEOPLE really look at their phone bill each month and see the taxes on it? AmerenUE was allowed to have a big pay hike with no cry of outrage. What can we do to stop these price increases? It's got to stop. Especially for those of us who are on a fixed income. It can't go on.
