I JUST wanted to say thanks to the person who found my wallet at Sav-A-Lot. It was returned with everything intact, and there was a little bit of money in there. I can't thank you enough, and may God bless you and give back to you a hundredfold what you did for me this evening. Thanks again, and to the girl who tracked me down with it: Thank you much. Have a great life, guys...

Thanks for returning wallet

I JUST wanted to say thanks to the person who found my wallet at Sav-A-Lot. It was returned with everything intact, and there was a little bit of money in there. I can't thank you enough, and may God bless you and give back to you a hundredfold what you did for me this evening. Thanks again, and to the girl who tracked me down with it: Thank you much. Compare what they charge

HATS OFF to the doctors. I'm not a physician, but I do appreciate them very much. I have a comment to make to their critics. I had a TV repairman come out, take off the back of the TV and tell me it couldn't be fixed. It took approximately two or three minutes. He charged $49. The TV shop is approximately three miles round trip from my house. I'm sure he made other calls before and after mine. To be a TV repairman does not require much schooling. There are very seldom long hours. And the work is not stressful. Doctors, however, go to school half their lives and have very long hours and a never-ending stressful job, since they deal with the lives of human beings. So please compare their jobs and their charges to the charges and jobs of the repairmen, carpenters and plumbers before you criticize the doctors.

Thanks for picking up trash

I'D LIKE to thank the two boys who picked up trash along County Road 635. I really appreciated it, and it makes our community look a little nicer.

Quick fix for stolen guns

TO THE person who was being silly about gun locks: It would be relatively easy to do. All that's needed is to register guns. When a crime is committed with a gun and the offender is caught, the owner of the gun would face the same punishment as the offender if the gun had not been reported stolen. Then you would see how fast responsible owners would lock their guns and keep them out of the hands of criminals and kids.

Gore is upstanding man

I READ Speak Out quite a bit, and it's kind of interesting. I've been reading about the gun law and everything. Well, Brady started that. I think that's fine. Also, I think it's fine what Mr. Gore is trying to do about getting trigger locks on all the guns. I have no objection to trigger locks. Then they get to talking about the economy. I was a businessman during the Reagan/Bush years, and I lost my business. I think all you other businessmen can vouch for that. The way the economy is going now is great. It's cut and dried who's going to be elected president. There's no way anyone could vote Gore out of there. He's done an excellent job, and he's an upstanding man.

Get something for teens to do

I'M RESPONDING to the teen-ager who wants the concerts in town. I agree. Cape Girardeau is such a lame town. We actually need something to do. We have such a variety of activities. Let's count them. One: Bowling. Oh boy, that's fun. Two: The mall. Three: The go-cart track where they don't let you race. And besides that, they're only open in the summer. And last but not least, four: Golf. That is the golden thing to do Very sociable. Why do you think at least 50 percent of Central students and trust me, it's probably more than that have experienced drugs and alcohol due to the limited lame things to do in Cape Girardeau. Let's jump on the Show Me Center director and get some good bands to come to Cape.

Jackson JHS is crowded

IN RESPONSE to the person who doesn't think the junior high is crowded: I'm a junior high student. There is no room to walk in the halls. I'm begging you, please, vote yes for Jackson bond issue. The school is very crowded, and I can hardly walk through the halls.

Wrong songwriter

IN A recent concert review by Sam Blackwell, he stated the song "For What It's Worth" was by Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young. Actually, that song was written by Steven Stills and recorded by the group Buffalo Springfield in 1968. The racial comments about ZZ Top and Lynyrd Skynyrd, were totally uncalled for.
