Speak Out for 7/21/15
Everyone should read Thomas Sowell's articles. They give a wonderful viewpoint of the Civil War and the black and white attitudes that can help us all. And he makes so much sense. It is really, really a good article. Let the competition begin as to who on the Opinion page of the Southeast Missourian can sound the most apocalyptic in condemning the nuclear deal with Iran. ...
Sowell's stance

Apocalypse now
Let the competition begin as to who on the Opinion page of the Southeast Missourian can sound the most apocalyptic in condemning the nuclear deal with Iran. I'm most interested in hearing from the people served by the Southeast Missourian rather than from national figures (think Dick Cheney) and all of the others who, while bashing this deal, earlier brought us the war in Iraq, the war where we were told we would be welcomed as liberators.
My bad
To the driver of the tan pickup truck at the intersection of Kingshighway, Cape Rock Drive and Arena Park, Wednesday, about 2:30 p.m.: I very much apologize for turning in front of you when I did not have the light and the right-of-way. Thank you for being an alert and cautious driver, when I obviously was not. I am normally a very safe driver, but was preoccupied at that time. That is a busy intersection at that time of day, and the consequences could have been bad had you not been alert.

Being The Donald
Even if he could take it back or apologize, there is no way Donald Trump would do so in reference to his comment to the effect that John McCain was no war hero. To do so would undermine the very essence of his Donaldness.
Academic awards?
The Semoball Awards ceremony was a wonderful event. Congratulations to the winners and all who attended. One can continue to hope that the day will come when the requisite amount of enthusiasm is generated so as to hold a similar event honoring area academic all stars.
Trumpeter?
David Limbaugh, please do so as soon as possible. We are all anxiously awaiting a column publicly extolling the virtues of and then jumping on the bandwagon for Donald Trump.
