Heartbreak over rabbit
I JUST read the article about Cinnamon in the Missourian. It really disturbs me that someone would steal these people's pet rabbit at the fair. Please return their family pet and get your own pet. These people are heartbroken. This doesn't make Cape Girardeau look like a very caring town.
Dog messes at riverfront
I READ the complaint about the fair parade leaving too much trash behind at Capaha Park. We've got a beautiful riverfront where a lot of people walk and jog, but due to all the dogs using the sidewalks for a toilet, it's really a mess down there. Some of the dog owners just don't care. They just act like it's nothing and keep walking. It's really a disgrace to have a nice place like that in Cape Girardeau and then to walk through dog poop. It's pitiful.
Too many restrictions
HOW SILLY is the person thinking bike riders need a license and proof of insurance? Cars do a lot of damage. A bike isn't going to do so much damage. It's wonderful in America having liberties. I really hate people who try to make a law for everything. Anyone should be ashamed who tries to make our society less free and less enjoyable.
Blame voters, not leaders
MY ANSWER to the person on the Gator swim team is that leadership has nothing to do with why Cape Girardeau can't have the facilities that other communities have. The residents were given a chance to have just that type of facility last year by voting to approve a tax increase. It was soundly defeated. The residents are to blame, not city leadership.
More toilets, please
I AGREE with the urgent need for portable toilets at Shawnee Park. My son plays on the side of the West End entrance. When my two other children have to go, it's a long way to walk all the way to the concession stands.
The music man
I HAVE to congratulate Dr. Steven Hendricks for doing such a fine job with the Choral Union. It is a joy and pleasure to be in his group. Come one, come all and hear what you are missing. Bravo, Dr. Hendricks.
Kindness abounds
THANK YOU to the two men who helped lift my wheelchair into my car at the fair. I was not used to my rental car and tried for hours until these men came to help. I know I could only give you $20, but I wish I could have given you more. It makes me glad to know that there are kind people in Cape Girardeau.
Do something worthwhile
I AM so sick of all this garbage being spewed about the limits on pets in Cape Girardeau. How about putting all your energy into something worth the effort, such as saving babies from abortion or children from abuse? People are worth the added efforts. I have a pet I love, but I don't value animal lives above human lives.
Not their fault
MY PARENTS depend on the government to pay their bills, and it is not their fault. They are both on disability. They have to live this way for the rest of their lives. It is not their fault they are on disability. They got hurt at work and can no longer work. My parents wish every day that they could go out and get a job, but they can't.
Costly opposition
LET'S FACE the reality that those opposing the limits on pet ownership are going to cost all the taxpayers by either election expenses or court expenses. I don't want my money wasted when I support the limits. Keep the limits.
Drop one concert
THE SEMO District Fair board says the mediocre quality of the entertainment is due to the budget. Here's an idea: Drop the Thursday night concert. Use the money saved from dropping Thursday night to hire better quality bands. I think this is an idea fans would agree to.
Enforcing dress code
THIS IS in regard to the dress code at Central High School. If the teachers are going to punish students who wear short skirts, why don't they do something about the Tiger dance team and cheerleader uniforms? Those uniforms are extremely short.
