Mowing priorities
COULD SOMEONE please tell me why the highway department in Bollinger County mows along the secondary roads before mowing a much more traveled road like Highway 34, which is dangerous to travel anyway?
Taxpayers foot the bill
I WOULD like to reply to the resident of Chaffee who thinks the former chief of police should pay back some of the salary he received while serving in Kosovo. It is the taxpayers who pay the salary, and you have to work to pay taxes. So if you don't work and pay taxes, you need to keep your opinion silent.
A life remembered
I READ your article about the murder of Ralph Lape. I was an acquaintance of Ralph's and was completely taken aback at hearing of his disappearance. I met Ralph about two years ago. I found him to be very friendly, outgoing, and always pleasant. He was the type of guy who would give you the shirt off his back and not even blink an eye. Once, while I was helping clean out his garage, he found some old music equipment his father had owned, and he was selfless enough, knowing how much I was into music, to offer it to me. I will always remember Ralph for his generosity, sense of humor and positive spirit. It's not often in life you meet someone as genuine as Ralph Lape.
Arrive in one piece
TO THE person who says, "Get out of my way": You're so typical of today's youngsters who think the world revolves around you. The speed limit is just that: a limit. The law doesn't say you can't drive slower. Drivers have the right to drive any reasonable speed they choose as long as they don't present a hazard. You're the hazard with your tailgating, passing in a no-passing zone, exceeding the speed limit and not driving defensively. What do you propose to do if someone in front of you isn't driving fast enough for you? Push them off the road? Or tailgate till they yield to your demand for the road? The law says if you strike someone from the rear, you're at fault. It's obvious to me you aren't taking the time to smell the roses as suggested. You'll arrive at your destination eventually -- in one piece. Just think of all the traffic tickets your daddy won't have to pay due to your infantile behavior.
It's fuzzball
THE WORD "fuzzball" in my recent comment was changed to "foosball" and destroyed the meaning of an incisive comment. Fuzzball was a game played with a fuzz-less tennis ball and a cork ball bat or broomstick. Foosball is a sissy indoor game that tries but fails to emulate hockey. Fuzzball was played on tennis courts.
Easy victory
HAD IT not been for the 22nd Amendment prohibiting him from running again, even honest conservatives admit Bill Clinton would have beaten George Bush like a drum.
