Post office

Those of us who work for the U.S. Postal Service would also like to be on a schedule. We never know when our mail will arrive out at the rural post offices. Trucks are late into and out of the Cape Girardeau plant -- there is something every day. When they cut our hours in half, and the mail is late, we won't get paid to work overtime. So when mail is late to your post office, it means your carrier will be late getting it to you. If it arrives on time or early, your carrier will go out on the route early. Therefore, no one knows what time the carrier will arrive.

Misspoken comments

The controversy over Todd Akin's misspoken comments is alarming. There is much evil in the world, and abortion is evil. The delight and dancing -- of the serpents -- over Todd's comments is astounding. MSNBC (and like-minded media) was doing the most dancing and smiling from ear to ear. We all know the pro-abortion trap is to use the rape language in their attempt to justify the taking of an innocent human life. Todd's answer was to have been: Abortion, because of rape, is much less than 1 percent of the 3,500 daily U.S. abortions. Two violent acts (rape/abortion) do not make a right. There are many couples that would love to adopt, and the correct answers go on and on.

Golf course

The Cape Girardeau Jaycees golf course was looking like a top-rated course, but in the last few weeks the new greens have gone downhill. It is definitely a shame to let the course go back to its old look and reputation. City officials need to keep this popular course up and not let it be a second thought. It is a 24/7 job to keep a golf course up, not a day here or day there. Let the greenskeeper and his crew do their job. They have proved they can do it by the way the course has looked since the remodel. But the city officials have to leave them alone to do it.
