THANK you, MoDOT, for the new bridges on Highway 34 from Burfordville to Jackson. They're wonderful. It was worth the wait.
I think before Mrs. Obama starts telling our children how to eat, she ought to look at herself in the mirror. My child will give up the drinks if she gives up the Black Russian caviar, which is $400 a can.
THIS is in reply to the person who wrote about our troops. I totally agree. Where was our respect? Why were the flags not flown at half-staff? Those soldiers fight for our freedom; they deserve our respect. It's not too late. If you see a serviceman today, please tell them what a fine job they are doing.
PRESIDENT Obama, please don't tell me we're going to try another stimulus plan. Can't you guys learn anything?
THE infamous Kim Kardashian got married recently. Whoopee. But despair not, we'll get to see her wedding in its entirety when it is televised in October. I hope her marriage lasts that long.
A writer to Speak Out thinks that President Obama has learned something in his three years of fumbling through his presidency? By botching the most important job in the country, destroying the economy in the process, keeping millions of people unemployed with no near term hope of a change in their situation, this qualifies Obama for another term? You have to be kidding, right?
TO answer the question about pencil boxes, I, as a teacher, purchased large, plastic storage containers, and I store all the tissues, resealable bags and hand wipes in those. And we use them as we need them. The children do not have to store these in their desks.
I just saw a dead armadillo on Mount Auburn Road. I can't believe it, they're in Cape Girardeau. I see those things dead all the time, but has anybody ever seen a living armadillo? Somebody did, a car ran over it. So the driver of the car must have seen it, but I've never seen a living armadillo.
THE Corps of Engineers blew up a levee for absolutely no reason. It didn't benefit anybody by blowing it up. Now they're using about 600 dump trucks a day to haul sand from the Missouri Sand Prairie Conservation area down to the levee to rebuild the base of the levee with sand, when they could just get dirt from right there next to the levee. Does this make any sense?
THESE bicycle riders that ride on Route W and County Road 621 need to be careful. I almost clipped one recently when he swerved right in front of me. He just doesn't know how close he came to hitting the pavement.
FOR those of you who are in the Scott City Water District, if you're tired of the water being brown, nasty-tasting and unavailable, contact the Department of Natural Resources. That will cause Scott City to have to do something with the water system.
JACKSON is a beautiful little town. Nice houses and well-kept lawns. My question is why do people here mow their lawns and then leave the grass clippings in the street, or do as my neighbor does and blow them to the front of my house? This looks tacky, it's rude and it stops up the sewers. If there is an ordinance in Jackson regarding this, why isn't it enforced?
