Paying for repairs

IF THE federal courthouse has been constructed using substandard materials or workmanship, the company that did the work should have to do the repairs for no additional cost. If the specs were incorrect, then the engineering company who did the design should be liable.

No difference

NATHAN COOPER'S potentially national security-jeopardizing felony had everything to do with him being a well-connected politician. Lots of folks look to politician/lawyers for assistance. Had Cooper not been a well-connected pol, he likely wouldn't be in this awful mess. For Missouri Republicans to draw a line between his legal and political life exemplifies a distinction without a difference.

Hot and cold

HOW IRONIC it is that the university pays $30,000 to air-condition Dearmont for one month with high-end equipment while many offices on campus routinely run space heaters all summer because it's too cold.

Delightful show

I WANT to applaud Mike Dumey for his "Sing, America, Sing" music show. It is so delightfully wonderful and refreshing to see this level of entertainment from the troupe of young people he has assembled. Mike is a true showman, and the cast made up of Allie Wolz, Becca Rollins, Katherine Rollins, Suzanne Burke, Lauren Dumey, Brodrick Twiggs, Scott Dunaway and Carson Kelley is so talented. Come out and see a true jewel.

Safety bump

THE BUMP on Lexington Avenue is a speed bump. Slow down.

Taking it back

A COMMENT'S reference to cliches about taking back America at the polls led him to ask: Take it back from whom? That's a legitimate question and deserves an answer. The two major political parties are, when all is said and done, wings of what might be called the Business Party. Thus, taking back America means that political parties must be taken back from the narrow interests of business and be representative of the wishes of all of the people, whether they vote or not.

Not a good idea

BUYING PRODUCTS made only in the U.S. would raise prices, ruin the economy, be anti-consumer and usher in an era of economic nationalism that would render the U.S. null and void as far as being a major player on the international scene.

Still have to win

THE FACT that Jackson schools slacked off in band and football training because of the heat will remain popular with the public as long as the band performances are top grade and the football team wins.
