This call is from a subscriber in Perry County and I would just like to give you a thanks for your "Congressional votes" column. They are very informative. I really appreciate them. And also, on another line, your crossword puzzles have improved greatly and are more challenging, and I really appreciate them.
Thanks to the American Red Cross staff for all that they do at the blood drives. I have been a donor for more than 35 years and have never been disappointed. They are so helpful and kind. Thank you again.
Shame on all the people who are maligning the fireworks our fair city put on for us July 4. We had lovely weather. A lot of people came down and had a nice time. And the fireworks were beautiful. The music was good too. Hopefully, next year we can have a big old celebration like we used to have at Libertyfest and have a whole lot of people with some vendors and that type thing on July 4. God bless Cape Girardeau.
The Cape Summer Classic wiffle ball tournament for charity was, simply put, a classic.
The overwhelming majority of columns on the Opinion page are deeply superficial.
The new White House Press Secretary is obviously drinking the same koolaid as the rest of the White House administration as he recently said, "I have a responsibility in this job to try to help the president live up to his commitment to be the most transparent president in history." Most transparent president? Try most deceiving and lying president in history. History will judge this presidency. Even his own party is questioning his lawless attempts in side stepping the U.S. Constitution.
I just read where Eric Holder says that opposition of Obama is partially racial. No, Mr. Attorney General. Cluelessness, arrogance, disregarding the U.S. Constitution and being non-presidential material has nothing to do with race, Mr Holder!
Right to Farm should be called Right to Sue! Any legislation that is specifically worded to encourage lawsuits against the state and municipalities is just more money going to lawyers and special interests. Why should the taxpayers of Missouri fund an end run around current laws against environmental pollution and other issues that these large farming operations/corporations want eliminated? This is not about small family farming.
